Shaundra McGuire
Register Mental Health Counseling Intern
Hey, I’m Shaundra.
I’m not your typical therapist—and that’s what makes it fun. I show up as a real human first—warm, honest, and sometimes funny—because I believe healing happens through genuine connection. Healing isn’t just about fixing what’s broken; it’s about learning to play again, to feel alive, and to reclaim joy in your life. If you're looking for a space that feels less clinical and more like an honest, grounded conversation, you're in the right place.
I work with individuals and couples who are ready to explore their inner world, break old patterns, and build relationships that feel safe. My approach blends Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), inner child work, and a deep respect for your spiritual and emotional journey. I’m trauma-informed, compassion-centered, and always attuned to what your heart needs most.
When words fall short, I also love to bring in music writing, creative expression, and even my guitar to help you process and explore your story in a deeper, more embodied way.

Specializations:
-
Self-Esteem & Self-Worth: Together, we’ll work to quiet the inner critic, soften perfectionism, and rebuild the trust you have in yourself. Through the safety of our relationship, we’ll gently uncover the layers of messaging, conditioning, and survival strategies that have covered up your inherent worth. This work is about coming home to your true self—the one who was always there beneath it all—and restoring the felt sense that you are enough, just as you are.
-
Inner Child & Parts Work: Together, we’ll connect with younger parts of you that may feel stuck, unseen, or burdened—offering them the nurturing, safety, and voice they may have never received.
-
Attachment & Relational Healing: We’ll explore your attachment patterns and how they impact your relationships—so you can build deeper connection, emotional safety, and secure bonds.
-
Family of Origin Wounds: This approach helps you explore how your early family relationships and experiences shape your beliefs, behaviors, and emotional patterns today. By understanding these influences, you can heal old wounds, break unhelpful cycles, and build healthier connections in your life now.
-
Dating & Relationship Coaching: I help you navigate dating and intimacy with more self-awareness, healthy boundaries, and clarity about what truly nourishes you in love and partnership.
-
Life Transitions & Identity Exploration: Whether you're stepping into something new or letting go of old roles, I offer grounded, compassionate support as you move through change and rediscover who you are.
-
Religious Trauma & Spiritual Deconstruction: If you're healing from rigid or fear-based belief systems, I provide a safe space to explore your spiritual wounds and reclaim your voice, values, and freedom.
Modalities:
-
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): I’m trained in EFT, a research-backed approach that helps you get curious about your emotions, understand their messages, and build stronger emotional regulation for greater well-being.
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy: As an IFS-informed therapist, I guide you in connecting with your inner parts—those different voices and feelings inside—so you can lead with your core Self and find more inner harmony.
-
Family Systems Therapy: I use Family Systems approaches to help you understand relational patterns and dynamics within your family of origin and current relationships, promoting healthier connections and personal growth.
-
Mindfulness: I bring mindfulness practices into our work to help you build self-awareness, calm your nervous system, and manage stress more skillfully.
-
Inner Child Work: Together, we’ll explore and nurture your inner child, the part of you that holds early experiences and feelings, to promote deep emotional healing and resilience.
-
Music Therapy & Creative Expression: When words aren’t enough, I incorporate music and creative activities—like songwriting and playing guitar—to help you express, process, and release emotions in a playful, healing way.
