Rosangela DeHart, BS

Mental Health Counselor Student Intern

The fact that you are reading this means that you are ready to kick your fears away. Whatever your concern may be, I believe you can turn things around and become your best version. I am a bilingual mental health counselor inter (English/Portuguese), who is passionate about guiding and empowering clients to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

My current practice involves working with teenagers, adults, and couples, helping them uncover underlying issues that might be holding them back. Life happens and circumstances change, but you don't have to navigate them alone—I'm here to support you.

My theoretical approach is flexible to accommodate each individual’s experience. While some clients may benefit from discovering different aspects of their minds, other clients are ready to be challenged. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you grow.

Specializations:

  • Couples: Rosangela promotes a non-judgmental space for couples. While encouraging each partner to explore and understand their relationship patterns, she recognizes the importance of working on the couple’s relationship as a whole. By focusing on the relationship itself, couples can work together to identify and address issues, improve communication, and strengthen their connection.

  • Anxiety: She helps individuals become aware of their automatic thoughts and beliefs to deal with apprehension over events they cannot predict or control. She uses exposure therapy to allow clients to confront their fears and learn their anxious predictions. Over time, repeated exposure leads to a decrease in anxiety responses and an increased sense of confidence and control.

  • Trauma: Rosangela provides trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) to individuals who have endured different types of trauma. Through this therapeutic approach, her goal is to support clients in their healing journey and empower them to kick their fears away and be their best version.

  • Addiction: Through a collaborative and goal-oriented approach, Rosangela helps clients understand the cycle of addiction and its impact on the brain. Clients learn about triggers, cravings, and the reinforcement mechanism that maintains addictive behaviors. The main goal is to help individuals take an active role in their recovery process, develop healthier habits, and sustain long-term change in their addictive behaviors.

Modalities:

  • Holistic Approach: The goal of using holistic therapy is to support individuals in achieving balance and integration in all areas of their lives.

  • Person-Centered Therapy or Rogerian Therapy: This modality emphasizes the importance of creating a safe and empathetic environment for individuals to share their experiences. The goal is to create space for clients to explore.

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT): The goals of TF-CBT are to help individuals who have experienced trauma to heal and recover from the impact of the traumatic event. This approach integrates cognitive and behavioral techniques with trauma-specific interventions to promote healing.

  •  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): The main goal of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is to help individuals identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to their difficulties. The therapy focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, recognizing that they are interconnected and influence each other.
