Bri Lauderdale
Register Mental Health Counseling Intern
As both a registered mental health counseling intern and a yoga instructor, you can expect our work together to incorporate mind-body practices in addition to verbal processing. My intention is to provide guidance and accountability for you to connect with your interior world through breath, movement, and mindfulness techniques.
The inability to "get rid" of uncomfortable emotions creates additional distress, often managed in ways meant to protect that actually cause more pain and suffering. This can feel like a lack of control, overwhelm, and/or hopelessness. My counseling approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which focuses on clarifying values and building distress tolerance with the understanding that while we cannot control our emotions, we can change the way we relate to them.
Mindfulness practices and therapy have significantly impacted my ability to navigate life's challenges in a way that aligns with my values. Because of this lived experience I am deeply dedicated to sharing these tools with others. Relationship is the foundation of this work. If you believe we would be a good fit, I'd love to connect for a consultation call to learn more about you and your support needs.
