Alex MacNicol, MA

Registered Clinical Social Work Intern

I am a Master of Social Work (MSW) professional with over 10 years of experience providing behavioral health services to adults navigating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. My experience includes outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), dual diagnosis, community mental health, supportive case management, disaster services, crisis response, and criminal justice settings, giving me the opportunity to support individuals with a wide range of clinical and life challenges.

I practice from a strengths-based, person-centered perspective, believing that meaningful change begins with a trusting therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, empowered, and encouraged to build on your strengths. I believe in meeting clients where they are while working collaboratively toward individualized goals and lasting progress.

Throughout my career, I have provided individual and group counseling, completed comprehensive assessments, developed personalized treatment plans, provided crisis intervention, and coordinated care with physicians, psychiatrists, courts, housing providers, and other community professionals. I have extensive experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use disorders, housing instability, and challenges related to the criminal justice system. Whether you're seeking support for recovery, mental health concerns, or a major life transition, I am committed to helping you build resilience and create meaningful, lasting change.
